I'm learning how to paint using Photoshop. And there's no better way to learn then to paint boobies!!! This is my second attempt. The first time was 5 years ago. I've been burnt out with painting caricatures. So I dusted off the Wacom. Lets see what happens.

It was a very long and painful few weeks prior to the Super Bowl. A lot of contracts and payment negotiations. A lot of arguing. But once all of us artist arrived, It became so much fun. Some of these guys I haven't see in over 5 years. Tuns of laughs, goofing off, and jacking up faces. It was all worth it.

I got to draw at a charity event at Ricky Watters house (pro football player, 49ers). He had some big named guest there including Julius Erving (Dr. J) and Ken Griffey Jr.

I also had a chance to jack up "Painter of Legends" Armando Delgado. He had three paintings up for auction that night. The paintings were of Dr.J, Ken Griffey Jr., and Rickey Watters.

I was jack'n up faces that day. I'm sure I won't be asked to draw for them again. Some people really got pissed off and gave me the drawing back. Most of the people had a great time and a lot of laughs...

Spooky Empire's "Ultimate Horror Weekend" was amazing!!! Drawing Zombie Caricatures this weekend was the most fun I have ever had drawing at an event. Being that we were drawing Zombies, we had total freedom to exaggerate as much as we wanted. And the crowd loved it.

Working with Sean Gardner was awesome. He's one of the few artist that I work with, that knows what a real caricature is. He exaggerates to the extreme. His likeness is always on. And he pushes me to do better. Thank you Sean for inviting me out to draw with you this weekend.

Jean and I had a wonderful night. Had dinner and drinks. Then we started drawing on the leftover napkins. We had a lot of fun. I think from now on, every time I drink I will draw on the napkins. Here are some of the napkins we sketched on that night. Jean drew baby Nick with his bear. And I drew Jean's Bear how I really see him. All washed up with no reason to live. Enjoy!

Jean has this teddy bear named Twigbee. They have been friends since she was 2 years old. Twigbee and I don't get along. He's always giving me dirty looks. And he stares at me all the time with those beety eyes. So I punch him and kick him across the room.
Anyway, Jean wanted me to draw a comic strip of her and Twigbee. Of course the bully is me. She told me what to draw and I drew it. Stupid bear... She bribed me with popcorn. I couldn't say no.

I hate people... This guy found me online. He wanted me to draw 2 sketches. One of him with a football body and one with a baseball body.
When we talked on the phone he kept over talking me. He had no interest in what I had to say.
Then he starts showing me other caricature artist's websites and tells me that he wants me to draw like them.
I ignored him and tried my best to get the sale. I just wanted him to send me photos so I can start drawing him.
Instead of a photo of himself, he sends me this Email with the caricature you see to the left.

"Nic here you go.

Would hair even on both sides. This photo has me riding in the wind, so you can't see the other side of my hair on the side below the ears."

He wanted me to redraw this sketch of his face and put a different body on it.

Then I realized this guy wants me to draw for him, but he hates my artwork, so he wants me to draw like someone else. What a wait of time. Why not just contact a different artist.

I was so pissed! I couldn't do it. I sent him on his way...

Tales from New York...

Hey guys. I'm at Canal Fest here in Tonawanda, New York. This is where I met Dave.

Say Hi Dave! Dave was a reject. Dave tried to tell me what to draw and I ignored him. He sat in my chair acting all ghetto and hard with his man boobs. When I showed him the sketch he got upset. "I tol you not to make my hea aw big!" I explained to him that he doesn't have the option to tell me what to draw. And that I'm here to make fun of him. Dave got mad and left.

So I decided to put Dave up as a demo. Little did I know, Dave was a local Celebrity. Not really, but a lot of people new him. For the next 3 days random people would come to the stand laughing. "Yo dog, that's Dave. Yeah, I know Dave". "Awe snap, Look is Dave." "Hey I know that guy, it's Dave." "Dave the prez of my car club."

So Dave became the mascot of the Fair.

I figured Dave got word that his sketch was hanging up at the stand so I took it down. I didn't want people to steal him. So now he's the RV mascot. Every time we leave the RV we say bye to Dave by smacking him in the face.

Hey, who know, maybe some of you guys know Dave too.

Hey Kids!!! I'm up in Niagara Falls. First time here. I have a little time between jobs, so I'm making the most of it.

These birds are nasty! They crap everywhere!!!

The Hurricane Deck was awesome! The water hits you so hard, it knocks you off your feet. When I was up there I turned into the water and it hit me in my no nos. Yeah! I'm never having kids now!!! So guys....be careful....turn away from the water.

Wacko Jacko or King of Pop? It's you call. After "Thriller" he lived a very lonely life. He had to create his own world "Neverland Ranch", because he couldn't go out in public. He done a lot of weird things in his life. Creeped us all out from time to time.
But you have to admit, Michael Jackson has impacted all of our lives. We grew up with him, his music, his signature dance moves. COME ON!!! We have all tried to "Moonwalk".

Buddy Rich and Marlyn Monroe...

If you don't know who Buddy Rich is....Then your stupid! You should really check him out. He is one of the best jazz drummers in the world. And I have the pleasure of painting him. The painting is 4x5 foot. This will be the biggest painting I have done. Well, besides the 10 foot tall guitar. That doesn't count. Willie Nelson was small on it.

Anyway, I wanted to post his progress as I paint it. So here's some pics of what I have so far.

I'm also doing a painting of Marlyn Monroe. It will be called "Baby got back!". Ill post updates on her as well.

Gibson Guitar auction...

The auction was awesome!!! The opening reception was held outside The Hard Rock Cafe at Universal Studios Orlando Florida. And the auction was held at the Blue Man Group theater.
A lot of great food, great artwork and rock n roll! My Willie Nelson Guitar sold for $1700.00. And all the proceeds went to local charity.
After the auction, the Blue Man Group gave an amazing performance. Jean and I had a wonderful time.

It has been a while since I've posted anything. So I'm here to bring everyone up to speed on my life. And I'm trying to get in to the habit of posting more often.

A lot of things have changed in my life the past few months. For starters, I don't work for Kaman's Art Shoppes (SeaWorld, Busch Gardens)anymore. I've been doing a lot of gigs, fairs, festivals, and art shows. I just work where ever I can to be an artist.
There's ups and downs to this life style of working fairs and festivals. The "ups" are: I get to work with old friends. I get paid more. I'm self employed. I travel all over the U.S.
There's downs as well: I'm doing this part time so I can be home to paint. So there's big gaps between pay days. I'm gone for long periods of time. And when your gone, a lot of things change, people change, your relationships change or even end. Because life keeps moving while your gone. If your not plugged into it, they'll forget about you and move on. They'll get fed somewhere else.
So I'm going to be working my butt off to get more work in Florida. I'm going to make "Mess Your Face.com bigger and better then any other caricature booking site. It's going to look great and be easy to use. I'm hoping to have it finished by the end of August 2009. I'm also going to do little Festivals here to hand out business cards. If your a caricature artist that wants work and would like to help promote Mess Your Face.com just let me know. I'll make you business cards. Put your name on the back of them and you can hand them out like crazy!!!

Crucifixion #2

Here's another Crucifixion painting. I want to be very straight forward with these paintings. I'm not going to sugar coat things. Jesus went through hell for us and I want people to see that. I want them to feel it.

This painting deals with God's favor, anointing, and blessing in our lives and how we hold him back, due to the choices we make. Look at the legs. It's covered in blood. There should be blood pouring down like a river. Yet only one drop falls. His blood represents life and blessing. That one drop shows how we restrict God from moving in our lives.

I hope to be done with my next painting in a couple weeks. It will be called "God is Big Business"...
